COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Having employees who effectively build rapport and convey empathy with colleagues and patients is vital for effective patient care. Many complaints in the NHS can be boiled down to poor communication and perceived lack of kindness or respect. This study day offers delegates the opportunity to reflect on their personal communication style, and show them how they could continue to develop them.
Quick Overview of the Day
First impressions are hugely important and this study day takes delegates through a personal journey of self-evaluation in terms of the way they interact with patients and colleagues on a daily basis. We offer an opportunity to adopt more effective communication strategies as an individual and as a team, with a practical look at communication techniques for developing rapport, and reflecting on the impact of a predetermined attitude on relationships.
Most importantly we demonstrate and then the group will practice skills, for delegates to gain an insight into how to show empathy and compassion. The 6Cs along with “Hello my name is” are threaded through the day and placed in their important context of how and why to keep these aspects of care foremost in everyday care.
